How do I know if I am connected to satellite in the Bullitt Satellite Messenger app?

This article will guide you through the steps you need to take to check your satellite connection status within the app

Updated over a week ago

When you tap the Bluetooth / Satellite icon at the top right of the app, the ‘connectivity panel’ will open.

This is where you can check your phone’s status – whether it is connected to your satellite device via Bluetooth, and whether it is connected to the satellite to enable two-way communication.

When you are trying to connect to satellite, ensure that you are outside with a clear view of the sky. Ensure that you are away from buildings and other obstructions that may interfere with establishing a satellite connection.

Within the connectivity panel you will be able to check connection status of your device. If the satellite signal is not strong enough the signal strength indicator will display on the connectivity panel. This is an orange icon to the left of the app screen.

This orange signal broken icon indicates you will be unable to connect to satellite. To optimise your satellite connection, it is recommended that you place your satellite link in the general direction of the satellite. Typically, in the northern hemisphere this will be in a southerly direction. In the southern hemisphere, you should try to face northerly.

Ideally you need a clear view of the sky, so ensure your body isn’t blocking the connection. Clear view of the sky typically means out of any wooded area, with no foliage interrupting the sight of the sky.

This orange signal icon will disappear when the signal strength is strong enough.

Note, that you may still be able to send and receive messages when the signal strength indicator is on screen, but there may be delayed sending and receiving times.
