How do I send a message over satellite using the Bullitt Satellite Messenger app?

This article will guide you through how to compose and send a message via the Bullitt Satellite Messenger app when connected to satellite

Updated over 3 months ago

Sending a message over satellite works exactly the same as if you were to send a message over an internet connection, however, there is a limit on the number os characters that can be sent. Keep an eye on the outer ring of the send button when connected to satellite, if this turns red, you will need to remove some characters before you are able to send your message.

To send a message via the Bullitt Satellite Messenger app, first open the App.

Select who you'd like to send a message to by clicking the (+) icon in the bottom right hand corner of the device screen, or, to reply to an existing conversation just click their name from the conversation list.

Start to compose your message as you would with any other messaging platform. At any time while you compose the message you can add your location. This is done by pressing the pin icon, beside the message dialogue box. Your location will be included, as a link in your message, so the recipient can just tap the link and see your location in their mapping application.

Click the rocket icon when you're ready to send your message. The message will now appear in the conversation window with an orange triangle in the top right hand corner, this denotes that the message is attempting to send via satellite.

Once the message has been sent, you will see a grey tick appear in the bottom right hand corner of the message box. If you have delivery receipts turned on, you will see this turn to a double tick once the recipient has received the message.

Note: delivery receipts will be charged a single 50 byte message, so if you wish to control your data, we recommend leaving this feature turned off.

Should your message have any issues with being delivered (for example, satellite signal strength) you will see a 'message failed' error and a button to resend the message. Simply click this button to attempt to send the message again, or compose a new one if you wish.
